Fathers of Trans Nzoia Joachim Macharia- Biography

Joachim was actively involved in the fight for the independence of Kenya as a young man. He was detained in various detention camps and was able to contribute to the Mau Mau independence struggle as a messenger whenever called upon. While in detention he also served as a peer counsellor and a teacher. After independence, he settled in Trans Nzoia where he practices commercial farming while involving himself in the politics of the day.
Mr. Macharia served as a Councillor (present day Member of County Assembly, MCA) under the Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi’s regimes respectively (Kenya’s 1st and 2nd Presidents).

The Biography spans different historical periods in Kenya, namely; Pre-colonial, Colonial and Post-colonial periods. During this period, there are major changes that took place in the political and administrative landscape of Kenya.
