Dash before Dusk: A slave descendant’s journey in freedom, is a compelling account of the life and times of Joe Khamisi, a Kenyan slave descendant whose ancestors were taken captive by Arab traders from Nyasaland and Tanganyika, rescued at sea by the British, and settled at Rabai, a slave encampment along the east African coast.
Joe Khamisi is a former journalist and correspondent for UPI, SABC, and the Johannesburg Star. He was managing Director of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. He served in the Kenya Foreign Service and was elected MP in 2002. He holds a BSc in Journalism from the University of Maryland and currently lives in Kenya
