Do you believe in destiny? Well, Marian Mell’Osiime Mpaata’s sports begins in Mombasa around 2007, when her eight year old son breaks the windscreen of a Mercedes Benz with his football! Despite not being a sports enthusiast, Mariam takes on the challenge to find a solution for her son and many others by establishing a safe space for children to play – the junior Stars Football Academy.
Mariam is a traiblazer, a truly passionate and committed advocate for football in Kenya and Uganda. She is a pioneer woman in football circles, demolishing stereotypes of what an African Muslim can do.
