Tene is not an academic work, neither is it a biography of Andre and Guthera. It is not a novel because the events narrated took place, neither is it a historical work, academically speaking. It is a record of events surrounding the life of a couple told to generations. The whole idea of writing this story is to commit to paper memories of what was, and which has now greatly changed.
Christine W. Gichure, formerly Associate Professor at Kenyatta University Department of Philosophy, is Professor and Emeritus dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Strathmore University, Nairobi. She was born and raised in Limuru, a sub county of Kiambu County. She was educated at Nderu Primary School, Limuru, the Loreto High School, Limuru, Kianda College, the Univesity of East Africa, Nairobi and the University of Navarra, Italy and Spain.
