The Last Plague

In this work, Meja examines the enigma of AIDS, an epidemic that is fast sweeping across Africa. Crossroads’ very existence comes under threat when the dreaded AIDS starts killing its villagers one by one. Little attention is paid to Janet who gives out free condoms to villagers, until Broker, her runaway husband comes back, ailing with AIDS. Broker cashes in on the situation and starts selling the condoms. This yields results as men and women – young and old alike – are curious to know more about them. Broker finally dies leaving a question on everybody’s mind: could this plaque wipe out Crossroad?
